Clean-up in the Dendrological Park of the Faculty of Natural Geography of Osh State University (Osh SU)

On April 13, 2022, in the Dendrological Park of the Faculty of Natural Geography of Osh State University, a community work day was held to promote the national action “Green Heritage”, dedicated to the “World Earth Day”, “The Year of Protection of Mountain Ecosystems and Climate Resilience” in the Kyrgyz Republic and the “International Year of Sustainable Mountain development”.

The event was organized by the Aarhus Center in Osh city within the framework of the project “Promotion of the Green Economy and Environmental Management” jointly with the Osh Regional Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision (ORD MNRETS) of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Committee on Youth Affairs of the Mayor’s Office of Osh.

 

The clean-up was attended by representatives of ORD MNRETS, the Youth Committee of the Osh City Hall, the Eco Tartip NGO of the Nookat region, environmental activists from the regions, teachers and students of Osh State University, the Kyrgyz-Uzbek International University named after. B. Sydykov (KUIU), Osh Technological University, Osh Humanitarian and Pedagogical University named after. A. Myrsabekov. A total of 72 people participated.

Director of the Aarhus Center K. Isabaev, Deputy Head of the ORD MNRETS N. Kazakov, Chairman of the Committee on Youth Affairs of the City Hall of Osh Zh. B. Sydykov Zh. Samieva, head of the Kyrgyz-Ata forestry of the Nookat forestry enterprise A. Totonov and chairman of the Eco South Public Foundation A. Abdykaarov spoke at the official opening of the clean-up. They noted the importance of expanding green areas and maintaining a clean environment. They also called for active participation in various events dedicated to the promotion of the national campaign “Green Heritage” initiated by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic on the occasion of “World Earth Day”, “Year of Protection of Mountain Ecosystems and Climate Resilience” in the Kyrgyz Republic and “International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development” .

71 birch saplings brought by Eco Tartip NGO were planted in the dendrologicalpark and the park territory was cleaned. In total, three cubic meters of garbage were collected and sent to the landfill. The participants of the appealed to the dean and teachers of the Faculty of Natural Geography of Osh State University with a request to preserve the planted seedlings and use the arboretum for practical classes of students.

During the clean-up day the TV and radio company OshTV prepared a special program to inform the population of Osh city.

At the end of the clean-up, K. Isabaev expressed gratitude to the participants and demonstrated the willingness of the Aarhus Center to cooperate in ensuring environmental safety and environmental protection.
