The discussion of the Plan for the implementation of measures for NDC took place in the sector “Water resources”

After lunch on February 9, 2023, the fourth technical meeting was held in the meeting room of the Water Resources Service under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic to discuss measures for the Implementation Plan of Nationally Determined Contributions of Kyrgyzstan (NDC), which was developed by experts with the assistance of the UNDP of the Kyrgyz Republic. The initiator on behalf of the Kyrgyz Republic of this process of updating measures is the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic – (MNRETS) with the support of the UNDP in KR. On this day, experts presented measures for the “Water resources” sector.The discussion of the Plan for the implementation of measures for ONUV took place in the sector “Water resources”.

This meeting was attended by representatives of interested parties, including the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Water Resources Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, research circles, universities, the Association of Water Users of the Kyrgyz Republic, UNDP, public organizations, as well as independent experts. At the beginning of the meeting, an introductory presentation by UNDP was presented, which informed about the general concepts of the NDC adoption process in Kyrgyzstan. The main speakers were experts of the relevant sector – the head of the expert group A.Temirbekov and the expert of the Water Resources sector N.Sakhvaeva, who presented the main parameters of the NDC and the Plan for the implementation of NDC measures for this sector, respectively. During the discussion of the proposed measures of the NDC Implementation Plan for this sector, special attention was paid to measures to create conditions for increasing arable land by repairing existing and installing new irrigation trays, preserving water reserves for on-farm activities, training hydraulic specialists.

At the end of the meeting, it was proposed to send this document to all interested parties for a more in-depth study and making proposals for inclusion in the Plan of Measures for the implementation of the NDC itself.
