Training on the Third Principle of the Aarhus Convention

In Talas city, Talas region, the Aarhus Centre in Bishkek, jointly with the Training Centre for Lawyers of Kyrgyzstan, and with the support of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, conducted a training on the application of the third principle of the Aarhus Convention, “Access to Justice in Environmental Matters” on June 25, 2025.

The training was attended by employees of the Talas Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, local self-government bodies of the region, practicing lawyers, independent legal experts, members of the environmental clubs “Talas” and “Eco Nova,” environmental experts, and media representatives.

Participants received training on the fundamentals of environmental law, compliance obligations with regulatory acts, and the legal steps necessary to achieve their goals when interacting with judicial bodies. To facilitate this initiative, an experienced lawyer, advocate, and environmental expert from the Aarhus Centre was engaged.

They provided essential training materials and offered consultations on legislation concerning various environmental issues. Practical group exercises were also conducted to reinforce the knowledge gained.

At the end of the event, on behalf of the Aarhus Centre, valuable gifts and letters of appreciation were presented to the environmental clubs “Talas” and “Eco Nova” for their active educational work in environmental protection among youth. A collection of regulatory legal acts of Kyrgyzstan was also presented to a representative of the region’s lawyers.
