Gender training

On August 25, 2021 in the hall of the Plaza Hotel, the Aarhus Center in Bishkek together with the NGO “Global Water Partnership”, with the assistance of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, held a round table on the topic “Participation of women in the implementation of the provisions of the Aarhus Convention in the field of ensuring environmental stability in the regions country”. At this event, issues of gender equality in the water sector of the Kyrgyz economy were discussed. The event was attended by representatives of the State Agency for Water Resources, the Agency for Hydrometeorology, State Committee for Ecology and Climate, Chui-Talas Water Commission, universities, NGOs and experts on water issues.

The main speakers were the head of the Aarhus Center in Bishkek with a presentation “Using the provisions of the Aarhus Convention in planning regional events”, K. Musabayeva – National coordinator of the NGO “Global Water Partnership of Kyrgyzstan” with a presentation “National policy and strategy on gender issues in Kyrgyzstan”. Chief Specialist of the State Agency for Water Resources with a presentation “Women specialists in the water sector of Kyrgyzstan: Education, experience and skills” and the representative of the GWP S. A. Turdakunova with a presentation “On the strategy of gender mainstreaming of the Global Water Partnership”.

After the presentation, the participants of the round table asked a lot of questions and gave their suggestions for improving the attitude in gender issues for both civil services and the public. At the end of the round table, certificates of participants of the event were awarded on behalf of the organizers.
