Debate: “Youth and Ecology”
On May 18, 2019, a tournament on parliamentary debates among students of universities in Osh city on the topic “Youth and Ecology” took place in the large assembly hall of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek University.
This event was organized by the Aarhus Center in Osh in cooperation with the Youth Affairs Committee under the support of mayor Osh City within the framework of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek “Environmental Safety and Natural Resources Management” project.
The employees of the Committee for Youth Affairs at the Osh City Hall, representatives of the Yntymak OTRK and 10 teams of four universities of the city participated in this event. In total – 33 people attended.
The opening ceremony was opened by the Director of the Aarhus Center and the Chairman of the Committee on Youth Affairs. A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the two parties until 2022.
Based on the results of the tournament, participants were awarded with the prizes, a diploma from the Aarhus Center and cash prizes, a certificate of honor from the Committee on Youth Affairs for the first 3 places:
- The first place was granted to the Biyiktik team of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek University, awarded with a Certificate of Honor, books and a cash prize in the amount of 3000 soms;
- The second place was taken by the team “Green life” of the Osh University of Technology, awarded with the Certificate of Honor, books and a cash prize of 2000 soms;
- The 3rd place was taken by the team of “Jash Muun” of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek University and was awarded with the Certificate of Honor, books and a cash bonus in the amount of 1000 soms.
The teachers of four universities of the city for the preparation of students for the debate and for active cooperation and the winners in six nominations were awarded with books and diplomas.
The purpose of this event is:
- Call for youth to protect the environment;
- Improving the intellectual level;
- Enhance public speaking skills;
- Training in a game of parliamentary debates;
- Collaboration of students from different universities;
- Teaching to analyze the problem and find the solutions and project developments;
- Calling youth to solve environmental problems.
Members of the Ecological Club at the Aarhus Center actively participated in organizing and conducting debates.
Upon completion, the leaders of the partner organizations expressed the gratitude to all the participants for their active participation and wished them success in their studies.
The debates event will be broadcast on the Yntymak OTRK at 7 pm on May 20, 2019.
