The winners of the “Eco-Journalist 2020” competition have been announced

Aarhus Centers summed up the results of the competition among media representatives “Eco-Journalist 2020”, which was held from June 15 to September 15, 2020 with the support of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek and regional offices of the SAEPF. The purpose of this competition was to draw public attention to environmental problems, encourage the creative activity of journalists, create favorable conditions for the participation of the media in the implementation of environmental programs, and highlight the issues of preserving the environment in a form favorable to humans. The competition was held on the basis of the Activity Strategy of the network of Aarhus Centers in Kyrgyzstan to involve the mass media of the Kyrgyz Republic in covering environmental issues, the state of the environment, environmental problems, measures taken by state and local authorities to preserve the environment, participation of civil society in observing measures to improve the state nature.

This competition was organized in the Chusky, Talas, Naryn and Issyk-Kul regions and was attended by journalists from print media (newspapers), Internet publications and television. They sent their works to the Aarhus Centers in accordance with the established selection criteria for the competition, the main one of which was the condition of mandatory publication of material on various media pages or shown on television. The competition was organized in 3 nominations – “Best author’s work in print media”, “Best TV show or story on TV”, “Best work on the pages of an Internet publication” and more than 60 applicants took part in them. 40 contestants became winners. They were awarded with diplomas of various degrees and valuable gifts
