The Aarhus Center in Bishkek Held a Meeting in Talas

On May 15, 2025, a round table was held in Talas city on the topic “Joint Work of State Services and Environmental Organizations on Environmental Protection – One of the Basic Principles of the Aarhus Convention.” The event was attended by representatives of the Talas Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic (MNRETS), the “Alliance of NGOs of Talas Region” Association, the Public Foundation “Talas Transit,” the “Talas” Eco-club, the “Econova” youth organization, media representatives, environmentalists, and residents of the region.

The main objective of the round table was to inform the public about the ongoing work in the field of environmental protection in the region by both state services and the public, to identify the causes of environmental violations, and to engage every citizen in environmental responsibility. The head of the Talas Department of MNRETS, Ashimov B.M., presented information on the activities of the region’s environmental services. Bodosheva K. provided information on the mutual cooperation (collaboration) of regional NGOs with the media on environmental issues. Karlygach Karypbek kyzy spoke about the work of the Aarhus Center in Bishkek, and presentations were also given by the “Talas” and “Econova” eco-clubs.

During the meetings, participants expressed their opinions, comments, and suggestions on improving cooperation in environmental protection in the region, the need to select priority areas by state services, conduct awareness-raising work among the population, and involve youth in the environmental movement.
