Training for Wastewater Treatment Plant Personnel
Every year, ahead of the summer season, the Issyk-Kul Aarhus Center, with the support of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, in cooperation with the regional administration and the regional department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, conducts training for staff operating wastewater treatment plants at sanatoriums, guesthouses, and other health and tourist resorts. Thus, on June 16, 2026, a training session for employees of various types of resort and health-improving institutions was held on the premises of the Raduga resort in the Issyk-Kul district.
At the opening of the meeting, S. Tursunakunov, Manager of the Issyk-Kul Aarhus Center, addressed the attendees and provided information on the Centers’ activities and ongoing projects. Following him, environmental expert U. Bekturganov reminded the participants of the newly adopted environmental regulations and laws, emphasizing the need for strict legal compliance. During the training, specialists from the regional environmental review department and the sanitary and epidemiological service shared essential skills for monitoring the condition of treatment facilities and stressed the importance of rigorous compliance with safety regulations during operations.
B. Mederbekov, Development Director at Bintek LLC, delivered a presentation on the Czech-manufactured “Topas” wastewater treatment plant. Concurrently, S. Zemlyakov, an engineer from ECO Start LLC, gave presentations on the modernization of “KU-200” treatment facilities, highlighting their advantages and maintenance processes. Afterwards, the participants proceeded to an on-site inspection of the infrastructure, where they observed the operation of the 850-cubic-meter “Topas” wastewater treatment plant running at the Raduga resort. They also received comprehensive answers regarding technical maintenance, operational processes, technical challenges, water disinfection, and wastewater recycling and reuse.
