A round table was held to improve cooperation and protection of the Sary-Chelek State Biosphere Reserve
On June 22, 2021 a round table was held in the meeting room of the Sary-Chelek State Nature Reserve with the specialists of the reserve and local activists in order to improve cooperation and protection of the Sary-Chelek State Biosphere Reserve.
The round table was organized by the Aarhus Center within the framework of the project “Promoting a green economy and Environmental Management”. The event was attended by employees of the reserve, members of the public foundation “Eco Tartip”, teachers of secondary school No. 30 Arkyt and local activists from the villages of Arkyt and Avletim. A total of 18 participants took part.
The official opening of the event was addressed by the Director of the Aarhus Center K. Issabayev, representative of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, M. Osmonov, representative of the reserve N. Mozenov, head of the village Arkyt Ormanaliev.
Director and specialist of the Aarhus Center K. Issabayev, A. Matisayev together with the participants discussed issues of cooperation with specialists of the Sary-Chelek State Biosphere Reserve. During the round table, the participants were shown a video about the Sary-Chelek State Nature Reserve, prepared by the Aarhus Center together with Yntymak TV. The participants of the round table discussed the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic on specially protected natural territories and on environmental protection.
R. Shabdanov, a specialist in the protection and protection of forests of the Sary-Chelek State Reserve, informed the participants about the activities of the Sary-Chelek State Biosphere Reserve. He also said that in 2020, violators of the environmental legislation of the law were fined in the amount of 254 thousand 500 soms. Of these, the claim is 198 thousand soms, administrative fines for 56 thousand 500 soms, 202 thousand 300 soms were collected.
The staff of the reserve informed that they will conduct explanatory work for tourists and local residents. They also asked for the help of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek in issuing a memo “Rules of behavior in the reserve”.
The event participants were given Collections of normative legal acts related to the activities of state bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of environmental protection (Bishkek, 2020), three types of posters about animals, birds and plants listed in the Red Book of the Kyrgyz Republic, published by the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, information sheets on the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic on specially protected natural territories and environmental protection.
At the end of the round table, the director of the Aarhus Center K. Isabaev expressed gratitude to the participants and willingness to cooperate.
Also, the specialists of the Aarhus Center and the specialists of the reserve carried out monitoring in the Sary-Chelek state biosphere reserve, got acquainted with the state of the lake and the conditions for tourists.
