Activities in Talas region

Representatives of the Aarhus Center in Bishkek held several events in the Talas region on May 25-26, 2021. On May 25, meetings were held with the Aarhus Center partners in the region – with representatives of the Talas Territorial Administration of the State Committee for Ecology and Climate, where plans for joint cooperation for this year were discussed. The Aarhus Center also provided assistance for an environmental campaign on the eve of the World Environment Day – gloves and garbage bags were handed over.

Then representatives of the Aarhus Center met with employees of the Public Fund “Zhyldyz-Tanzit” and the Association “Alliance of NGOs of the Talas region”. During the meeting, they discussed the events that are planned to be held in the region in 2021. Agreements were reached on the joint holding of competitions among students of schools in the Talas district and an environmental training seminar for young people in the region.

On May 26, the Aarhus Center in Bishkek organized a seminar in the Kara-Buura district of the Talas region. It was attended by representatives of the region’s environmental services, the regional state administration, the Talas department of the SCEC, public organizations, employees of the Kara-Buura natural park. The topic of the seminar was “Application of the Aarhus Convention to inform civil society on climate change problems”. The main speakers were the head of the Aarhus Center in Bishkek A. Nurbekov, the director of the PF “Zhyldyz Transit” T. Momunbekova, the director of the natural park E. Kuluyev. At the beginning of the seminar A. Kydyrgychev, the head of the Talas territorial department of the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection made a welcoming speech.

During the discussion, the participants of the seminar asked several questions, to which the speakers provided explanations. There were also requests to provide visual information in the form of posters and various booklets to familiarize the population of the district on environmental issues, to conduct educational trainings for employees of environmental services on new instructions and rules for monitoring the environment. At the end, the Aarhus Center donated environmental posters, books and environmental guides to the Kara-Buura Natural Park as an aid. In addition, for the clean up to be held on the territory of the natural park on June 1, inventory was transferred – gloves, bags, shovels and more.
