Exchange visit
On September 21, 2020, an exchange visit was held in the city of Mailuu-Suu with the financial support of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek. Within the framework of the visit, representatives of local self-government bodies, various services, deputies, residents, including the youth of the Min-Kush aiyl okmotu of the Jumgal district of the Naryn region, visited the city of Mailuu-Suu.
This event was attended by representatives of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, the AHO of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Aarhus Information Center in the city of Osh, the head of the OEIC of the city of Mailuu-Suu, the mayor of the city of Mailuu-Suu, the chief doctors of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision and the General Medical Center of the city of Mailuu-Suu.
The purpose of this event was to show the residents of the Min-Kush ayil okmotu completed reclamation work at uranium production facilities in the city of Mailuu-Suu, to organize a meeting with representatives of the local self-government bodies, municipal services and residents of the city.
The event began with a presentation by K. Kydyrov, a representative of the Emergency Management Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. He presented in detail the process of reclamation work on transferring tailing dump No. 3 to tailing dump No. 6. He also dwelled on the problems, the reaction of the residents during the work and how these problems were overcome. After completing his speech, he answered questions from representatives of the village Min-Kush.
Then the chief doctors of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance and the Center for General Medicine and Healthcare spoke. They were asked questions related to public health, radiation monitoring at reclaimed sites during the work.
In the end, the Mayor of Mailuu-Suu N. Mamatov made a speech. He greeted the guests and told about the disagreements on the part of the residents of the city during the work and about the explanatory work carried out by the city hall. He answered the questions of the participants.
Then all the participants went to the sites: they visited the place where the tailing dump No. 3 was previously located. A representative of the Emergency Control Ministry of the Ministry of Emergency Situations on the spot told how this facility was moved, answered questions from participants. Here, a meeting was organized between representatives of the Min-Kush community with residents of the city of Mailuu-Suu, living near this facility. They exchanged views on the reclamation work. The participants also visited Tailings Pond # 6, where Tailings Pond # 3 was relocated. At the facility K. Kydyrov told about the technology of tailings disposal. There were questions of a different nature, to which the AHO specialist answered.
Further, the participants of the visit visited the Ailampa-Sai site, where it is planned to carry out reclamation work at tailing dumps No. 1, 2, 4, 13, 14, 23 and dumps No. 1, 2, located in the Kolmo-Sai tract.
The visit was concluded with a visit to representatives of the Min-Kush ayil okmotu of the Mailuu-Suu Electric Lamp Plant.
