On October 15, 2024, the Aarhus Centers of Kyrgyzstan announced the holding of the Debate Olympiad among students, where the Arabaev Kyrgyz State University and the Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University took part in the city of Bishkek, Tynystanov Issyk-Kul State University in the city of Karakol, Talas State University in the city of Talas, and Naamatov Naryn National University in the city of Naryn. The main objective of these events is to find out the attitude of young people to environmental issues, encourage them to take good care of the environment and develop skills for participating in preserving nature in a favorable manner for human existence.

In accordance with the terms of the Olympiad, the event was to be held in 2 stages: stage 1 from October 16 to 25, and stage 2 from November 22 to 29, 2024. The first stage was to take place within the walls of the university where the students study and it was necessary to select the 9 best works, which then had to participate in the second stage and determine the winners of the Olympiads themselves. In the city of Bishkek, the final stage was to take place between two universities, and in the other cities between the winners of the first stage in the universities themselves.

The students approached the final stage of the Olympiad with certain knowledge on environmental issues and experience in presenting their presentations. The works of all groups of students were highly appreciated by the competition committees, which included employees of the central office and regional offices of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, representatives of the teaching staff of universities, environmental experts and Aarhus Centers of Kyrgyzstan.

The competition committees determined the winners in all the cities where the events took place, having appreciated their work, and the high quality of the materials presented by the contestants was emphasized.

After determining the winners, each was presented with valuable gifts and diplomas, which were presented by the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek and other partners, such as the Alliance Altyn company in Talas.
