On September 15, 2016 a round table on the topic “Access to environmental information – the key to stability and sustainable development of the society”was held. It was organized by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek and the Aarhus Centre in Bishkek with the participation of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry (SAEPF) under the Government the Kyrgyz Republic. The roundtable was attended by guests, among whom were representatives of local regional control SAEPF, GIETB, the media, representatives of NGOs, CBOs, NGO and civil society.

During the round table were presented various presentations on the topic of the round table.  Director of Aarhus Centre in Bishkek  Nurbekov A. told about the Aarhus Convention, the importance of its adoption and the main provisions of the Convention itself; on implemented activities for 2015 and work plan for 2016.

Seydahmatov M. gave a presentation on the activities of the CAREC in regions, on planned and implemented activities, the role of CAREC in terms of increasing environmental problems and challenges for sustainable development, as well as on the concept of cooperation with NGOs.  Matraimov K. – Project Manager of CAREC in Kyrgyzstan, told and presented the work of the project, plans and achievements of the project, about the problems facing the region, identified in the course of the project.

Musayeva K.A. – Chairman of the National Council of Water Partnership informed the audience about the water partnership, on the ongoing plans of the Partnership, the achievements and capabilities of the countries participating in this Partnership.

Djailoobaev A. – manager of the National Council of Water Partnership made a presentation on the work of projects in Kyrgyzstan on the basis of the implementation of the Water Partnership plans. During the discussion of the reports by the guest voiced suggestions, opinions and comments:

– Director of the NGO “Pirsalamon” Asanaliev E. expressed his opinion on the issue of open data of environment, in particular on the status of water reserves at Kumtor, about the environment due to the contamination of the glaciers of the Tien-Shan.

– Chairman of the Association “NGO Alliance Tenir Too” Osmonova P. expressed the opinion that in the field of environmental protection issues need to constantly raise and explain to the population the use of NLA methods for violators.

– Representative of the State Inspectorate for Environmental and Technical Safety Dzhumakadyrov M. was concerned about the increase in violations in the field of ecology, the weak work of all services in sphere enviromental proection.

At the end of the round table several participants expressed appreciation for hosting this event and wishes for a successful work.
