Empowering Women: Bishkek Round Table Discusses Financial Independence Through Effective Land Use

On May 21, 2025, the **Aarhus Center in Bishkek**, with support from the **OSCE Program Office in Bishkek** and in collaboration with the **Association of Land and Forest Users of Kyrgyzstan**, held a round table at the “Plaza” hotel. The event, titled “**WOMEN’S RIGHTS AND PATHS TO FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE THROUGH EFFICIENT LAND USE**,” aimed to inform women about their rights regarding the effective use of land plots for sustainable business development.

The main speakers were staff and experts from the Association, who presented four key topics:
* “Women’s Land Rights – Legal Framework and Practice”
* “Land as a Resource for Women’s Financial Independence”
* “Improving Land Use Efficiency”
* “Women’s Access to Resources for Farming and Business Development”

The event saw participation from representatives of various **farming households in Chuy Oblast**, single women working in agriculture, as well as experts and environmentalists.

The round table was productive, providing participants with essential information for developing family businesses, encouraging women to apply their skills, and exercising their rights for successful income generation. It also fostered discussions on barriers and challenges women face in accessing land plots.

It’s also important to note that this event took place during the **100th anniversary of the women’s movement in Kyrgyzstan**, a milestone being celebrated by many public organizations across all regions of the country.
