Aarhus Center in Bishkek held an event at Talas State University
On April 14, 2022, a round table was held at Talas State University on the topic “Solving current environmental issues and problems – the importance of the participation of the younger generation.” The round table was attended by students and teachers of the aforementioned university, students of the Talas regional lyceum-complex, chairman of the Association “NPO Alliance of the Talas region”, deputy head of the Talas territorial department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic. The tasks of the round table were to raise awareness of students and teachers of Talas State University about the Aarhus Convention, as well as about the activities of the Aarhus Center in Bishkek.
At the beginning of the round table, the dean of the faculty “Nature and Pedagogy” Koichumanov Z. and the chairman of the Association “Alliance of NGOs of the Talas Region” and trainer-consultant of the Aarhus Center in Bishkek T. Momunbekova made a welcoming speech. Then the head of the Aarhus Center in Bishkek A. Nurbekov made a presentation, providing information on the activities of the Aarhus Center in Bishkek, on ongoing work, planned events and the possibility of students and other interested persons to access and use the information resources of the Aarhus Center in Bishkek.
Deputy Head of the Talas Territorial Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision Sadabaev Zh. spoke in detail about the activities and functions of the above-mentioned body, shared information regarding planned activities in the field of environmental protection in the region. After that, the chairman of the Association “Alliance of NGOs of the Talas Region” and trainer-consultant of the Aarhus Center in Bishkek T.Momunbekova spoke about the work of local public environmental organizations, their main directions and prospects.
The participants of the event actively participated in the discussion, asking interesting questions and sharing their opinions and ideas. The environmental problems of the region were discussed, including the problems of storage and disposal of waste, planting greenery in the area and environmental education.
At the end of the round table, the head of the Aarhus Center in Bishkek expressed gratitude to the participants of the event and called for close cooperation. The participants of the round table showed great interest and enthusiasm. A group photo was taken at the end of the event.
