Issyk-Kul Aarhus Center held a clean-ip day day in the Kyrchyn Gorge
On June 4, 2022, in the Kyrchyn gorge of the Issyk-Kul region, a garbage clean-up day was held, timed to coincide with World Environment Day and as part of the approved work plan for 2022 of the Issyk-Kul Aarhus Center.
The purpose of the cleanup was to collect garbage in the Kyrchyn Gorge, draw public attention to environmental problems, protect the environment and teach young people to take care of nature.
Residents of the villages of Temir, Kashat, Grigoryevka, Semenovka, schoolchildren and teachers of the district, as well as the staff of the Issyk-Kul Territorial Administration of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic took part in the clean-up. A total of 111 people took part.
Before the start of the cleanup, the manager of the Issyk-Kul Aarhus Center S. Tursunakunov gave a brief information about the work of the Aarhus Center and the World Environment Day. Then the head of the Issyk-Kul Territorial Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision R. Termeev expressed gratitude to the organizers and participants on behalf of the department and called on all participants to preserve nature.
The OSCE Program Office in Bishkek made an invaluable contribution to the organization of the clean up by providing transport, gloves, equipment (shovels, rakes) and garbage bags.
During the clean-up, the participants cleaned the bank of the Ak-Suu River and also carried out cleaning among the trees. As a result, about a ton of various garbage was collected.
