On January 23, 2025, public hearings of the draft Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Climate Activities” prepared by the deputy of the Zhogorku Kenesh Dinara Ashimova with the support of UNDP KR experts were held in the meeting room of the Plaza Hotel. This document is unique and the only one on issues of regulating the actions of state bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic in matters of climatology.

The document itself is posted on the website of the Zhogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic for public viewing, and during the hearings it was voiced by the developer himself. This document consists of 8 chapters, each of which reveals the essence of the Law, its functions and goals, the institutional foundations of the climate action of the Kyrgyz Republic, the implementation of state policy on mitigation of the consequences of climate change and adaptation, issues of climate financing and investment, the scientific basis of policy and capacity building, international cooperation. In total, the document includes 32 articles.

During the hearings, numerous questions were asked, various comments were given to the document, additions and changes were proposed to some articles of the draft Law. In general, the draft was accepted positively by all participants of the hearings and the need for its prompt adoption by the Zhogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic was noted.
