Environmental monitoring

On July 9-10, 2019, in the city of Osh, a training entitled “Conducting Industrial and Public Environmental Monitoring” was held for inspectors of SIETS.

This event was organized by the Aarhus Center in Osh in collaboration with the SIETS under the framework of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek project “Environmental Safety and Natural Resources Management”.

It was attended by state environmental inspectors on land, water resources, subsoil protection, mining and industrial supervision of regional departments in the Nookat and Aravan districts and Kara-Suu district (21 participants), in Uzgen, Uzgen and Kara-Kuldzhinsky districts , Alai, Chon-Alai districts and in the city of Osh and representatives of environmental NGOs of the Osh region (21 participants).

At the begginig, the director of the Aarhus Center, K. Isabaev, briefed the participants on the project draft  of OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, on the activities of the Aarhus Center in the city of Osh, and presented the trainers. The training was led by OSCE international consultant A. Abduvaliev and OSCE national consultant T. Neronova.

During the process, trainers presented in details the following topics: “Industrial Environmental Monitoring”, “Atmospheric Air Protection”, “Water Resources Protection”, “Waste Management and Land Protection” and “Public Environmental Monitoring”.

The trainers provided detailed answers to the participants’ questions, noted what should be paid attention to when checking production and other facilities, and asked the participants to submit an application for the necessary equipment that the inspector greatly needs.

Participants were handed out methodological guide for inspectors of the SIETS environmental safety during inspections, the “Hunting Minimum” manual and the Memo for public environmental monitoring, issued with the financial support of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek.

Upon completion, K. Isabaev thanked all the participants for their active participation, wished them success in their work and encouraged them to cooperate in environmental issues.

Participants received certificates of participation in the training.
