Partners’ events
From 11 to 14 November 2024, a training on the topic “Strengthening the capacity of key stakeholders and decision makers on the impact of climate change and sustainability on the NEXUS relationship: Water-Emergencies-Food Security – Health” was held in Kalmak Ashu village, Kemin district, Chui region. This event was organized by the UNDP-EU project “Climate Change and Sustainable Development in Central Asia”.
The training participants were employees of the Aarhus Centres network of Kyrgyzstan, who, together with development partners and government organizations working in the environmental field, received the necessary skills and approaches to apply in their work on issues of adaptation planning to climate change. This training was enriched with the developments of the UNDP NAP project in terms of constructing climate scenarios for development and use.
The main outcome of the training was to gain a full understanding of the theory and practice of the “nexus approach” and the relationship: water – emergency – food security – health in the context of climate change. The participants learned methods for identifying weaknesses in the above relationship, identifying their causes and consequences, the roles of players, building development scenarios taking into account climate scenarios and developing recommendations that will ensure interrelated sustainability. In addition, this tool can help integrate issues of adaptation and resilience to climate change in the socio-economic development of regions in the future.
