An interfaculty competition was held among students on the topic “Osh State University on the path to green development.”
On March 29, 2024, the Department of Zoology, Ecology and Bioengineering of Osh State University, with the assistance of the Aarhus Center in Osh, held an interfaculty, student event “Osh State University – on the path to green development”, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Osh State University. The event was attended by students of natural science, tourism and agricultural technology, medicine, theology and Kyrgyz-Chinese faculties.
The main goal of the event was to attract students to environmental activities in the discipline “Green Economy”, promote sustainable development and progress towards a green university by encouraging young people to cultivate an environmental culture and revive patriotic feelings.
As part of the event, students posted videos “Green Economy in Kyrgyzstan” on the social page of the Department of Zoology, Ecology and Bioengineering. In 3 days, the video of the students of the Faculty of Theology received 38,500 views, the video of the Faculty of Medicine – 33,400 views, the video of the Faculty of Natural Science, Tourism and Agricultural Technologies – 26,400 views, and the video of the Kyrgyz-Chinese faculty received 989 views in 8 hours. Each video received thousands of likes and comments in support, their number is growing every day.
“Green actions” are aimed at improving the environmental situation in our city. Students of the Faculty of Theology, in order to reduce the amount of garbage in the city, proposed using environmentally friendly, clean and reusable bags instead of plastic bags. Students of the Faculty of Medicine proposed to plant 85 seedlings for the 85th anniversary of Osh State University; they can be seen in the “Planting 85 seedlings” promotions. Also of particular interest was a student challenge competition prepared by tourism students from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Tourism and Agricultural Technologies.
In a debate competition on the topic “Ways to solve environmental problems in Kyrgyzstan,” students were able to demonstrate their ingenuity and accuracy of environmental knowledge.
Student teams were awarded diplomas and cups from the Department of Zoology, Ecology and Bioengineering. We also received T-shirts from the Aarhus Center.
This event will be continued among other faculties of Osh State University.
