Monitoring at Son-Kol

On September 15, 2025, an environmental monitoring of the state of the environment on Son-Kol Lake was conducted jointly with experts from the Environmental Service of the Naryn Territorial Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic (MNRETS KR), A. Zhakshylykov, and research fellows of the Karatal-Japyryk Nature Reserve, T. Omuraliev and A. Asanova.

The goals of this event were: to study the impact of environmental problems on the state of the environment, human impact on the preservation of biodiversity, and the appearance of illegal dumps in recreation zones; to analyze the state of the soil, types of grass and birds, their vital activity, and the impact on the flora and fauna of the reserve, as well as human attitudes towards the improvement of natural sites; to determine the organic state of the water; and to study the influence of the chemical state of the water on the flora and fauna.

Several sections of the reserve around the lake were chosen for monitoring.

Visual assessments of the grass cover and soil were carried out on the shore of the lake. Additionally, observation of migratory birds on the lake was carried out using special equipment.

The results of the research will be provided to MNRETS and other interested parties working in this area.
