In accordance with our plan of work in the conference hall of the Association of forest users and users of Kyrgyzstan round table was held. Round table on the topic “Access to environmental information – the key to sustainable public relations in the regions” was organized by the Aarhus Centre in Bishkek and the Association of forest users and land users of Kyrgyzstan, with the support of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek and the participation of the State Environmental Protection Agency and Forestry (SAEPF) the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic. The round table was attended by 32 invitees including representatives of management SAEPF and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Land Reclamation of the Kyrgyz Republic, NGOs, civil society and the region’s business community, as well as a guest of the Mongolian Republic, Mr. Baigaliev Orchin Ba Hogzhliyn – Director of the Environmental protection Association of environment and development “Zhasyl”.

Round table started with the welcoming speech Director General of forest users and land users of Kyrgyzstan Association Burhanov AM, who welcomed the participants of the round table and wished successful work.

The roundtable featured presentations and materials:

– “Summary of the Aarhus Center in Bishkek on implementation Aarhus Convention” (rapporteur Nurbekov A. – Director of OC Bishkek), who told the audience about the Aarhus Convention, the importance of its acceptance and the main provisions of the Convention itself; about implemented activities of the Aarhus Centre for the years 2015 -2016;

– “Media for the effective coverage of environment and natural resources” (speaker – T. Oganov – regional project program manager), who presented the project and explained the work approaches in matters of public awareness and best practices for the delivery of information;

– “Certification of responsible forest management” (rapporteur Kenesarieva A. – specialist NGO “Ekogid”, member of the Association), who presented on the need to complete certification in the field of forest management;

– “Water management in Kyrgyzstan: yesterday, today and tomorrow” (speaker – Djailoobaev A. Manager of the NGO “Water Partnership”), who provided information on the status of water reserves in the country in the context of independence to Kyrgyzstan after independence and in the future;

– “Efficient use of water resources in the Kyrgyz Republic. drop irrigation system in Kyrgyzstan “(speaker – Kanatbek N. – specialist NGO” Elko “, member ALZK Association), who provided information about caring for water, particularly in drip irrigation;

“Sustainable livelihood of rural women: Experiences of NGO” Alga “(rapporteur Bakashova A. – program coordinator of NGO” Alga “), who provided information on the work of NGOs in the field of assistance to villagers in solving social problems in the countryside.

After that, a ceremony of signing the Memorandum of Understanding between the Aarhus Centres and the Association of forest users and land users of Kyrgyzstan was held.
