Tree Planting Campaign Held in Buzhum Village as Part of the National “Zhashyl Muras” Initiative

On April 8-9, 2025, a tree planting campaign was conducted in Buzhum village, Suu-Bashinsky Aiyl Okmotu, Batken region, on the territories of the “Buzhun” general education school, the Feldsher-Midwife Point (FMP), and the Buzhum mosque.

This event was organized by the Aarhus Center in Osh, in collaboration with the Batken Regional Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision (MNRETS) of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Suu-Bashinsky Aiyl Okmotu, with financial support from the Program Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Bishkek.

The campaign saw the participation of representatives from the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, a Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, specialists from the Batken District State Administration, the Aarhus Center in Osh, the Batken Regional Department of the MNRETS of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Suu-Bashinsky Aiyl Okmotu, residents of Buzhum village, teachers and students of the “Buzhun” general education school, FMP doctors, eco-activists, and media journalists. In total, over 80 people took part.

At the official opening of the campaign, the Head of the Suu-Bashinsky Aiyl Okmotu, D. G. Makanov, Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, B. A. Kalpaev, Head (Akim) of the Batken District State Administration, D. B. Imanaliev, Head of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, Ambassador A. A. Rogov, and Head of the Batken Regional Department of the MNRETS of the Kyrgyz Republic, A. G. Mamataliyev, delivered speeches highlighting the importance of the “Zhashyl Muras” initiative and thanking all participants for their active involvement.

Letters of appreciation from the Batken District State Administration, the Batken Regional Department of the MNRETN of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Suu-Bashinsky Aiyl Okmotu were presented to the Head of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, Ambassador A. A. Rogov.

For their active participation in the campaign, letters of appreciation from the Aarhus Center and the Batken Regional Department of the MNRETS of the Kyrgyz Republic were awarded to A. Akmatov, A. Toroyev, N. Keldibek uulu, A. Ikramidin uulu, U. Nishanbai uulu, and A. Zholdoshov.

During the campaign, 320 saplings were planted (170 birch and 150 Tien Shan spruce). Responsibility for watering and caring for the saplings was assigned to the school administration and the aiyl okmotu.

Journalists from UTRK Batken and the “Batken Tany” newspaper prepared special reports for the public and posted them on social media.

At the end of the campaign, the Director of the Aarhus Center, K. Isbaev, thanked the participants and presented the school with posters of plants, birds, and animals listed in the Red Book of the Kyrgyz Republic.
