The volunteer clean-up took place in Naryn
On May 21, 2021 the Naryn Aarhus Center held a clean-up in the city of Naryn at site No. 4 “Kotormo”. The purpose of this event was to clean up garbage in the Naryn region, as well as to familiarize local residents with the activities of the Aarhus Center in the city of Naryn. This event was held jointly with S. Naamatov Naryn State University. Local residents, students, teachers of the NSU and the Agrarian and Technical College participated in the clean-up.
Before the start of the clean-up, the manager of the Aarhus Center for the Naryn region, S. Kalmuratov, briefly spoke about the activities and goals of the center. Then the teacher of the department of agrarian and technical disciplines Zhaparov A. made a presentation on the methods of sorting and recycling of garbage. He also told how you can make compost in households and about using it in gardening as a fertilizer.
Local residents raised a number of questions regarding environmental problems in their neighborhood:
1. The condition of garbage cans and their location. The problem is that these garbage cans are not fenced off from the wind and therefore the garbage is carried by the wind throughout the area. They asked us to inform the Taza Naryn organization about the existing problem and help solve it.
2. Many residents do not have a place in the house for composting household waste. They ask to allocate a plot next to their area so that they can dig a pit there for composting waste and manure.
After these discussions, all the participants moved on to the clean-up. The clean-up was held in a friendly atmosphere. More than 100 kg of garbage was collected. The locals were very pleased and expressed their gratitude and readiness to work together in the future.
