A round table was held in Chon-Oruktu village

On April 20, 2023, in the village of Chon-Oktu, Issyk-Kul district, in the assembly hall of the aiyl okmotu, a round table was held, organized by the Issyk-Kul Aarhus Center.

The purpose of the round table is to provide the public with information on the principles of the Aarhus Convention, on the activities of the Issyk-Kul Aarhus Center for 2021-2022, discuss the environmental problems of the Orukta ayil okmotu, provide information on the work done by state bodies to solve environmental problems.

The round table was attended by employees of the Oruktu ayil okmotu, tourist and environmental police, residents of the villages of Oruktu, Chon-Oruktu.

The round table was opened by the executive secretary of the Oruktu ayil okmotu Esen Mukambetov, who informed the participants about the work to preserve the environment and expressed gratitude for the organization of the round table.

After him, the manager of the Issyk-Kul Aarhus Center S. Tursunakunov spoke. He spoke in detail about the Aarhus Convention, about the goals of creating centers, about the activities of the Issyk-Kul Aarhus Center for 2021-2022 and answered questions from the participants.

Mukambetov Esen, executive secretary of the Oruktu ayil okmotu spoke on environmental issues of the Oruktu ayil okmotu. He spoke about the problem available in the aiyl okmotu – about the problems of garbage disposal. Due to the fact that Oruktu ayil okmotu is subsidized, there is no opportunity to buy garbage containers and a garbage truck.

An employee of the Issyk-Kul District Department of Internal Affairs, police lieutenant E. Sultanbaev spoke about the work being done by the tourist and environmental police to prevent and detect violations. He also informed about the work carried out to clean the bottom of Lake Issyk-Kul from debris, as a result of which about 20 km of synthetic fishing net were taken from the bottom.

The participants of the round table voiced their proposals for improving the ecological situation in the villages, asked questions.

As a result of the round table, it was decided:

  • Carry out work on the installation of garbage containers in the villages of the Orukta ayil okmotu and on the purchase of a garbage truck.

At the end of the round table, a representative of the Orukta ayil okmotu was presented with collections of legal acts published with the financial support of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek.
