On 17-18 June 2016 in the city of Talas, Talas region a round table on the topic “The participation of public organizations of Talas region in solving the problems in the environment” was held. Aarhus Centre in Bishkek in cooperation with a partner of Talas region NGO “Alliance of NGOs Talas region” held a roundtable discussion on “Public Participation in Talas region in solving the problems in ecology”. During presentation the main directions of activity of public organizations in matters of the environment Talas region was discussed. Identifying environmental problems and possible ways to more actively involve the public to address these issues.

At the event the work of some public organizations of Talas region in the field of ecology, public environmental services (SAEPF GIETB, et al.), Local authorities, as well as a report of the Aarhus Center in Bishkek were presented. Development Strategy of the Aarhus Centres was presented. It is designed to support the State Agency on Environment Protection and Forestry under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic for effective short and medium-term planning for the implementation of activities on promotion basic principles of the Aarhus Convention in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2015-2018 years.

The round table was carried out within activity of the Aarhus Centers with assistance of the “Promotion of conscientious management in the Sphere of Environmental Management in Kyrgyzstan” project of the OSCE Center in Bishkek.
